Date: 2 October 2010
Venue: iZulu Theatre, Sibaya Casino, Kwa-Zulu Natal

The 2010 NABBA Classic was nothing short of brilliant and I really enjoyed the show. Despite the fact that the number of competitors wasn't high, the quality of the athletes that did compete was simply remarkable. Chris and Bev Scott, alongside local sponsors Muscle Science went all out with the setting up of the event in the iZulu theatre, a massive and equally impressive structure inside Kwa-Zulu Natal's Sibaya Casino.
The show started off with the junior division and along with it came the impressive physique of young Sean King. I was really impressed by the size, balance, symmetry and rock hard conditioning that Sean brought to the stage. He had lines everywhere and I have no doubt that as he continues with bodybuilding he'll become a face to look out for! Another highlight of the show was the bikini division. Tammy Jackson completely dominated the line-up with a stage presence that was leagues ahead of everyone else. She has come a long way with bikini and was the hands-down winner of this exciting and very crowd-arousing division. Second place went to Gina Mazzoni, who has improved her physique quite a bit since I last saw her on stage, and her confident on stage presence was also a complete turnaround from the last showing I witnessed from her.
Irene Alley and Delene Watkins went head-to-head for the overall figure title as they were unfortunately the only competitors in both their height categories. Irene once again managed to secure the overall title, but Delene presented herself beautifully and her routine was remarkable to watch. Both girls are truly talented South African figure athletes.
Local boy Dylan Ridley was once again extremely impressive, following his complete transformation from his appearance as a novice earlier this year. He has put on some great size to match his already freaky and superior conditioning. His legs are, without a doubt his strong point, but his balance and proportions are getting better. His conditioning was mind blowing and, considering he struggled to get his weight down in the last week before this show, he certainly managed to pull off a very impressive appearance.
This show also marked the first time in a while that I had seen the physique of Graison Horn in the Class 1 division. Graison's physique is impressive and this kid has immense potential. His upper body and his conditioning is mind blowing – in fact, he has the potential to become one of the most symmetrically pleasing bodybuilders in South Africa. However, his legs, although impressive are not doing the rest of his physique the justice it truly deserves. If Graison can get his proportions more balanced and put a lot more work into his quads and hamstrings, he will be a true force to be reckoned with.
The most impressive physique of the competition and, of course the overall winner was Nelson Mthembu. At 40 years of age Nelson has an extremely eye-catching physique. He is symmetrically balanced and his conditioning is superb! He was easily the best man on the night, so the overall title was a well deserved win.
A big thanks to Muscle Science for sponsoring the event and an even bigger thanks to Bev and Chris Scott for inviting Muscle Evolution to cover this truly awesome show. Congratulations to all the athletes that managed to secure victory!
