Report back by Andrew Carruthers
The 2010 IFBB Novice South African Championships took place on the 1
st of May at the Eersterust Civic Centre in Pretoria. Novice athletes from all over SA came together to compete for division honours, as well as the exclusive title of SA Novice Champion for 2010. The competition ran incredibly smoothly, starting with a pre-judging session that took place throughout most of the morning, followed by an evening show that allowed the athletes the opportunity to present their hard work to a packed venue. The turnout and standard of conditioning at this year's championship was awesome, clearly highlighting the fact that bodybuilding in South Africa is most definitely gaining popularity at a rapid rate.

Dylan Ridley managed to walk away with the title of SA Novice Overall Champion for 2010, boasting a physique that can only be described as incredible. As an over 90kg athletes he has a dense and mature look that is equally on par with that of a top senior athlete. Should he decide to continue into the senior division later this year you can be assured that he will be battling it out for a top three placing. Well done to all the athletes who participated and we look forward to seeing you back on stage again later in the season.
