The WFF/WBBF USN Boksburg Classic bodybuilding show took place on Saturday the 7th August 2010 at the Springs Civic Centre, and what a show it was!
The strength of the sport in SA was clear for all to see as the show had 131 athletes and 523 spectators in attendance.

All the athletes that participated need a special mention for their preparation for this show, as the conditioned bodies that were presented on stage was a privilege to witness. The quality of the top eight athletes once again had the judges scratching their heads during pre-judging.

Johan Boshoff, who won the U/85 Athletic Bodybuilding division and the Overall title on the night, was definitely an athlete of the highest standard. His humble approach toward the sport and the respect he shows other athletes is an example to others and shows that one can be the best and have the right attitude at the same time. Johan Boshoff is truly a worthy champion.

The U/16 and U/18 divisions also didn't disappoint. These divisions are becoming more popular each and every show, which is vital for the growth and development of the sport. The Novice divisions had two of the most conditioned athletes competing on the night in the U/70 and U/80kg category, namely Prince Mogola and Colin Campbell. They are most definitely athletes to keep your eye on for the future.

The ladies once again graced the stage with beauty and elegance and had the crowd shouting and applauding as they strutted their stuff. The Men’s Fitness division, which is for the more gymnastic-type athlete, saw World Champion Julian Louw display a breathtaking routine.

All the Senior Men’s divisions were hotly contested by the athletes on the night. There was not much separating eighth to first, due to the high standard that was brought to the stage, which begs mention in this report.

A special mention goes out to the U/75 Performance Bodybuilding line-up which was, without doubt, the line-up of the day. The division was eventually won by Osh Radebe, who was outstanding in a tightly contested line-up and came a close second in the Overall Division.

The WFF/WBBF thanks our main sponsors, USN whose contribution is truly appreciate. A big thanks to BodyQuip Gym Equipment for their help and support, and for sponsoring prizes to the overall winner. To Steering Auto World, thank you very much for sponsoring the over 40 O/80kg division.

Tommy Du Rand, president of WFF/WBBF South Africa, would like to thank all those who were involved in making this show such a success and wishes all athletes well in their preparations for the upcoming provincials and the W.A.R South African Championships. “Let our sport stay strong and healthy as we lay the foundation for the younger athletes coming through”, he concludes.
